Christchurch Earthquake

Welcome to our blog site where students at the Royal Children's Hospital can follow our project. Our aim is to gain an understanding of the Christchurch earthquake and how it has affected the young people of Christchurch. Our hope is to fundraise money through our projects that will benefit those affected.

Recognition ID - recognising a wonderful & worthwhile project

Allesha presented at a conference a few weeks ago and was approached by a teacher whose husband was a director of the company Recognition ID. They were so moved by our project that they offered to support the project by donating merchandise. Allesha liaised with Mark on the adolescent ward and has arranged for some pens to be printed. Thanks so much Recognition ID for supporting our project. Thanks to Allesha for the ace networking and thanks to Mark for organising suitable products. Nice job everyone!

AGM & August round up

The Education Institute held their Annual General Meeting last Tuesday. Allesha did a fantastic job presenting our project and thank you to all the wonderful people who supported our fundraising appeal. There was lots of great feedback about the contributions of the students so thank you!

The last lot of chocolates will arrive tomorrow. Can you be believe we have sold over 1450 chocolates! Amazing!!! The Pins are selling well and the wristbands.. Well they have been a little slower. Hopefully we can sell some of these over the next month.

We sent wristbands to all of room 7 last week and they loved them. A few of the teachers also received the pins and they thought the logo was very cute.

the students have written another lot of letters to suggest ideas about what the money should go towards. Please keep your ideas coming.

We are hoping to wrap up the project around October so looking forward to seeing what wonderful wellbeing activity we will provide for students at Chisnallwood Intermediate.

Have a great week and keep up the good work promoting our project and our products!

What will we do with the money??

As our fundraising is in full swing we thought it was time to ask for suggestions as to what we should put the money towards.   We are almost 1/2 way to our target of $1000 and we hope to reach it  in the next few months.  We will be asking students in Room 7 at Chisnallwood Intermediate to tell us what they would like, however it would be great if we could offer some suggestions. It is our hope that the money goes towards improving the wellbeing of these students who have been through so much this  year.
Things to remember are:
  • Students are between 11-13 years of age
  • There are approx 750 students
  • Grass areas and fields may be closed due to the water damage  & liqufaction
Post your ideas and we will run a poll to vote in the next few weeks.

thanks

Fundraising quizzes a success

Last week as a result of the wonderful planning and organising  by students, Skates and the Macadamia crew, we were able to hold 2 fundraising quizzes. The quizzes were aired live on both days and students across all the wards were able to participate for a small donation.
On Tuesday we had one for the younger kids. This was very sucessful and  students were super quick to call in with their answers and claim their prizes! Thanks heaps to Skates, Paige and Giuseppe who did such  a wonderful job hosting the quiz.
On the Wednesday we had one for adolescent kids.  Among the prizes were an ipod shuffle, perfume & cologne, itunes cards and many more. This was a little harder to muster up kids to particpate but  we got there in the end and it was successful. Big thanks to Giuseppe and Jake who also did a fabulous job hosting:)

A few other quick thankyou's are in order..

A BIG  thank you to Andrew Gideon and his team at Ties 'n' Cuffs. Last week we received our project pins and they look absolutely fantastic.  The pins have already  attracted very positive comments and are selling like hot cakes!:)  It is through Andrew and his team's kind and generous donation that we will be able to raise additonal funds to go towards a well being activity for students at Chisnallwood Intermediate School, Christchurch New Zealand.
If any of your family and friends are looking for corporate or promotional items, please consider supporting Ties n Cuffs as they have done so for us.
