Christchurch Earthquake

Welcome to our blog site where students at the Royal Children's Hospital can follow our project. Our aim is to gain an understanding of the Christchurch earthquake and how it has affected the young people of Christchurch. Our hope is to fundraise money through our projects that will benefit those affected.

Chisnallwood students put some ideas forward. Bialik College lend a hand.

After returning back to school after holidays, students at Chisnallwood Intermediate have suggested a few ideas that we could put the money towards.  Here are a few ideas...

 - Repairs to Camp Taylor (school camp in Takamatua)

 - Sport equipment

- Backfield activities

 - books (Scholastic are already donating books)

I have asked the students to have a think about whether they would prefer an activity for themselves. If they prefer to have the money go towards school facilities and resources then that is perfectly okay too.

Keep an eye out towards the end of the week for a poll of the activities.  Please vote for your favourite idea.

While we are making the final decision, Bialik has graciously offered to sell some of our remaining merchandise. This is a lovely offer and will definitely help our wonderful cause.  Thanks guys - we really appreciate it!

  1. That's a great idea. I'm sure Bialik will help the fundraiser.

  2. I think you should arrange for Rugby players to come teach the kids the rules of rugby, and then have a big lunch with all of the kids.

  7. I think it should go towards rebuilding the camp site
And then once it is rebuilt they should often have camps

  8. I think we should watch a new or good movie that all the kids agree on and then watch it with some good snacks like popcorn. Or any other types of foods that the kids enjoy.

  9. Some great ideas guys, thank you. Loved your ideas about the rugby clinics. Canterbury Rugby already work with the community and given the conclusion of the recent Rugby World Cup,players are probably having a well deserved rest before pre season training commences again shortly. We also need to be mindful of the inclusion for girls and those who do not play rugby.
