Christchurch Earthquake

Welcome to our blog site where students at the Royal Children's Hospital can follow our project. Our aim is to gain an understanding of the Christchurch earthquake and how it has affected the young people of Christchurch. Our hope is to fundraise money through our projects that will benefit those affected.

Christchurch city rocked again - Monday June 13th, 2011

Christchurch community have again been hit by strong aftershocks, one registering 6.0 on the richter scale. Further damage has occurred, liquefaction (water seeping up and mixing with the soil) is causing havoc and people have been injured. As one member of the community summed it up, the situation is exhausting. Post a warm thought here for the Christchurch community who are one again fearing for their safety and face another night without power and water.

  1. To all the students at Chisnallwood Intermediate and all the people of Christchurch. I am so sorry to hear that you are having more aftershocks. I hope that you are all okay and that the aftershocks stop. I hope that you can go back to school soon and that your power and water is back on. We are thinking of you over here and hope that you can smile again soon.
