Christchurch Earthquake

Welcome to our blog site where students at the Royal Children's Hospital can follow our project. Our aim is to gain an understanding of the Christchurch earthquake and how it has affected the young people of Christchurch. Our hope is to fundraise money through our projects that will benefit those affected.

Thanks to room 7 at chisnallwood intermediate school

Big thanks to all who wrote to us. We all enjoyed reading your letters though they all made us sad about what you went through. We are happy that all of you are safe. We hope that the last big aftershock did not cause too much more damage and that you and your family are safe.

  2. Dear Room 7,
Thanks very much for taking the time write to us in Melbourne about your experiences with the earthquake. I am the teacher on the 8th floor of the hospital and I use to teach at Chisnallwood Intermediate in 2007/2008. Christchurch is one of my favorite places in the world and I am really sad to see so much damage and so many people affected. I am however really glad you are all safe and that you are moving forward to getting things back on track. Some of the staff made comments this morning about how emotional they felt reading some of your letters.
It blows me away that Eastgate is going to be demolished! I had no idea about that. It sounds like you have been really rallying together as a community to he clean up the silt and damage. It makes me proud to think there is so much community and that you are helping each other. For those who have had to move to another home, I hope that you are able to settle again soon. I watched the Crusaders win in South Africa over the weekend and I thought about you all and how the team is so much more committed for the Canterbury community.Students at the Hospital are busy working on NAIDOC week activities (National Aboriginal Islander Observance Commitee) this week but will hopefully respond to your letters next week. Our fundraising is just about to start so start thinking about what you think would be a good thing to put the money towards. Thanks again for your letters. We hope to put some on the blog this week. Take care and we are thinking of you all.
